Old terraces and newer estates
Redditch has two quite different types of house, and they need repointing in different ways. Older terraces have soft brick and lime, while estate houses have harder brick and cement.
We repoint both through our brick repointing service, and the older houses can be done in lime through our lime pointing service.
See our page on lintel repair in Redditch if a window head has cracked. For a full explanation of how a repoint is done, read the brickwork pointing guide.

How each type of house wears
Older terraces were built with soft brick and lime mortar. Their joints wear slowly, and the bigger risk is later cement repairs that damage the brick around them. We remove that cement carefully and use lime to repoint.
New town estate houses tend to have harder brick and cement mortar, so they hold up well. When they fail it is often in patches: around rainwater pipes, under leaking sills, or on walls that face the weather head on. We price the walls that need it and leave the sound ones.
Has your pointing worn out?
- Mortar loose under a window sill

Redditch repointing questions
How much is repointing in Redditch?
A terraced house front or rear starts from £1,850 and a semi-detached front or rear from £2,450. On an older terrace in lime, it is from £2,312.50 per elevation. Scaffold, chimneys, height and very worn joints add to that.
Do estate houses need repointing?
Eventually, yes, though usually later than older houses. When they do, it is often only one or two walls, so we price them separately.
Can you repoint a rented house?
Yes. We can send the quote to the landlord or agent and arrange access with the tenant.
Can you match the mortar on my estate house?
Yes. Estate houses usually have a standard mortar colour, and we choose the sand and mix to match it.
Can repointing help sell my house?
Sound pointing makes a better first impression and gives a surveyor less to note. We can repoint just the most visible walls if that is what you need.
